Beautiful skin goes hand in hand with what you’re putting into your mouth. It’s real simple, garbage in equals garbage out. You can’t put a Chevy Nova engine on a Lamborghini and expect it to give you the same performance. Diet is a lifestyle, it’s not something that you say “I’m going to loose weight for this wedding…” and then go right back to where you started (after the celebration)! It’s for life! Okay I preach I preach. Let’s get down to it.
This method is easily available, it’s affordable and it works! There’s an array of foods that has healing properties and prevention powers. You can renew you skin by staying on track with the type of foods you intake.
Green Tea
I absolutely love this one. It’s a diuretic and it’s my go to when I feel bloated. Two cups and I feel flushed and light. There’s lots more from where that came from! Lots of antioxidants. It gets rid of those cancerous free radicals. If you want a natural ant-aging remedy (I believe in aging but, I prefer to age gracefully and beautifully), this is it.
Salmon Fish
Salmon is rich in oils. For younger looking skin, you need a moisturized surface. Think of what happens to a paper that gets water spilled on it and then dries! It crinkles and wrinkles easily when dry. You want to continuously oil your internal systems and salmon does just that. It’s rich in fatty acids like omega-3 that helps to keep you supple looking.
Did I mention there’s a vitamin B12 in here for natural hair growth! You can also get the same benefits from walnuts and flax-seeds (also an alternative if you’re a vegetarian). I honestly can also tell you that I absolutely love Omega 3 fish oil capsules (I can’t stand to take them in liquid form- Yuck!). My skin is smoother and soft! It’s a must try for anyone out there whose having a dry skin spell!
* If you are looking for Omega supplements, choose those that are derived from wild salmon. I like Natures Choice.
Blueberries
Blueberries: I put these in my smoothies and I hunt the farmer markets for them in season and out of season. They are so antioxidant rich and they chase those free radicals that break down skin cells. You get a dose of your vitamin C, E and fiber. Plus, they are so delicious with frozen yogurt!
Carrots
This is your natural Vitamin A! If you’ve read up on skin this is a must in every skin maintenance routine. If you have dry skin, one of the factors is probably a lack of Vitamin A. The other extra bonus is: carrots have biotin and this is essential to hair as well.
H2O
Yes you’ve heard them say that you should feed your thirst but, when do you know it’s not enough? If you’re just drinking 1-2 cups a day, you are shortchanging your body. I am not talking about the water in coffee, juices and other caffeinated drinks. I am talking about clean, pure, straight up H2O! Water flushes out toxins and that flush really clears your skin. Stay consistent with your day to day intake. I, personally, drink 9 cups a day (that is 8 ounce cups). Roughly 2.2 liters! When working out, I take about one more cup.
* If you find yourself hating the tasteless nature of water (which I’ve come to love), try this: drink lemon water or add lemon grass to your water and let it sit for a bit (this is my favorite)!
To sum this up…
Go ahead and make these healing foods part of your clear skin routine. Load up on that green tea, those fish oils, those carrots, berries, and that water. Getting great skin is also all about what you should avoid eating. Stay away from those foods that cause bacteria, and oil, to be trapped beneath your skin’s layer. These are things like saturated fats, sweets (sugars) and friend foods.
You skin is the outer, most visible, component that needs you to care for it inside out. You can put all the $300 dollar creams from the outside but, if your inner care is sloppy, the results just won’t be there. A “magic” cream can’t combat inner nutrient deficiencies.
Lastly, you should check out the super foods via juicing. Juicing veggies and fruits (to sweeten). I have seen dedicated, daily, juicers who have the most beautiful skin. On the other hand, people who often consume refined foods tend to have skin that ages at a much more rapid speed than those with a more nature based diet.
I can’t wait to share out juicing journey, and results, with all you lovely people.
