Lemon Water Detox Recipe Simplified

Lemon water cleanse

Lemon water in the morning rocks to wake up to.  I usually wake up with one tall glass of warm water with 1/2 lemon juice straight from a lemon.  The juice is an antiseptic and also works as an antioxidant. In fact, I’m always asking for this lemon drink whether on the plane or at a restaurant.  When other people ask for pop or freckled lemonade, you guessed it…

This is the best cleanse you can implement into your daily routine.  It’s my simple Ayuverdic tonic.  I make it daily so the enzymes are always active.  I always make just enough for that day and that day alone.  There is no pre-made product nor leftovers.

Things to Remember:

1. Make sure you are using warm water If your water is too hot, it will kill off the enzymes in the juice.

2. Use a straw. I can not stress it enough.  Since you’ll be drinking this everyday, you DON’T want to have acid wear on your enamel!  I actually use a glass straw to avoid the direct contact of lemon with teeth {glass straws because the plastic ones likely contain BPA).

What you need:

-1 Lemon (use only 1/2) store rest for next morning.

-Lemon squeezer

-1 tall glass

-Warm water

In my journey, to actively embrace a healthy lifestyle, I have been proactive in my water consumption. It has become a habit just like washing my face when I wake up.  This morning routine is done on an empty stomach.

LEMON WATER FOR SKIN

5 Reasons Why Lemons Work as a Morning Routine:

1. Your colon gets that cleansing that it needs in order to absorb nutrients.

2. It’s great for maintaining and regulating weight since it stabilizes your blood sugar levels and curbs your appetite.  This balance is key to anything that has to do with weight.

3. It helps your body to pump out toxins and has tons of Vitamin C.  As a result, your skin gets clearer.   Your skin has a hard time glowing if your body is holding on to toxins.  This simple detox recipe works from the inside out.

4. It’s great for your digestion and since it’s a diuretic so it flushes toxins out.  Goodbye bloating.

5. Your natural hair is getting the hydration and moisture it needs.  Plus, lemon water contains anti-inflammatory properties.  Inflammation creates a situation where women experience hair loss.  Examples of this are: open wounds on the head, flaking, itching and dry scalps.  The healing properties of this Vitamin rich fruit are there to help with that. We all know that a healthy scalp is the ground for long natural hair.

Weight Regulator:

*If you’re looking to add anything to this regular routine, you can add green tea.  Green tea will help in increasing your body fat burning potential when your couple it with the lemon.

Lemon peels for skin.

What Happens to the Lemon Peel?

Skin brightener: I throw it into some brown sugar in a 40z jar.  The juice coming from the peel helps infuse the sugar into a nice brown sugar scrub. I use this as a skin brightener once a week to slough off dead skin cells.  The results: soft, bright, skin.  I also use it on my hands at night everyday.   Amazing how many ladies forget their hands in their nighttime routine.

Body scrub: Let the brown sugar sit with the lemon peel and add some olive oil to the concoction to make a paste.  Use it in the shower as a body scrub.

Q: What’s is your morning routine like?

Can I use lemon juice from concentrate and get the same result as using lemons?

    • Ariana

Concentrated lemon juice loses raw enzymes after processing. It’s like taking the power out of a punch. You can still punch something, but it’s not as effective.

Also, adding a dash of hot sauce (or just a capsicum containing agent, like cayenne pepper) to the lemon water helps your liver to emulsify fat build up in its ducts. You can’t live without your liver. :)

        Hey Ariana:

Thanks for the insightful clarification. The enzymes are everything when it comes to citrus! I’ve tried lemon concentrate and I always came back to the real lemon. This is where the best nutrient sources are found.

Hey Susan. Like Ariana said, the lemon juice from concentrate is way too processed and removed to even work like a normal lemon would. The more natural the lemon source, the faster the results.
